I’ve always enjoyed trying out new skincare products, especially with constant new items getting released all the time, and recommendations from some of my favourite beauty bloggers/youtubers. However, not everything I’ve tried in the past has worked out for me. When I was younger I would get a bit of acne which made me feel quite self conscious as you would imagine, especially because most of it was on my back. I tried many different products, but for somebody who has dry and very sensitive skin, not everything worked well, in fact some things I should of never put on my face (you live, you learn I guess!). I also didn’t even know what type of skin I have back then, so I just tried everything and anything. Now with a bit of knowledge up my sleeve, I am always on the hunt for new products that work well for sensitive skin which also offer positive results. Since becoming a mum, I’ve noticed my skin is a lot more clear as I don’t wear makeup every single day, and I also drink loads of water religiously. So thankfully, I am only stung with the odd spot or nasty whitehead as a result of eating too much sugar, or if I have accidentally fallen asleep with makeup on which as everybody is aware is a big no no, (but can happen sometimes especially as a mum, and I feel disgusting about it when it does!) Anyway, today I wanted to share with you my current go-to skin care products I have been using for quite some time now which I have been loving! I am going to do this in two posts, morning and night, so it isn’t all in one really long post. I’ll also get links for each item where I can so if you are interested you can click to buy them yourself!
As soon as I wake up in the morning, I want something that’s obviously going to be quick, but also refreshing and gentle. So the first product I will use is the Body Shop Aloe Calming Foaming Wash. This is such a gorgeous cleanser which is specifically formulated for sensitive skin. All I do is splash some water on my face, then I’ll take just one pump of product because it’s all I feel like I need, then I’ll start massaging it into my skin. I then rinse it off and it’s as simple as that! It leaves my skin feeling super clean and soothed. Also this photo is of the second bottle I’ve ever owned, as in my opinion it lasts a long time, and for such a great price, it’s one I definitely will continue purchasing for my early mornings!
As a mum, my mornings are really full on with a very busy little 9 and a half month old. Therefore I like to keep my morning skincare routine quick and easy. So for my morning toner I am obsessed, and I mean OBSESSED with the Sukin Hydrating Mist. You don’t need a cotton pad, all you need to do is spray it all over your face to your hearts content! This stuff smells incredible, and is so super refreshing! I always feel like I’ve given my skin a lovely good drink when using this product, as my skin is also quite dry, so it needs a lot of hydration otherwise it just feels like I’ve left a face mask on without washing it off! This toner is alcohol free, and contains rosehip and chamomile to help sooth tired and dull skin. It doesn’t contain any nasties, is super affordable and stocked in many different stores including local supermarkets. I even took a miniature bottle of this to the hospital when I was in labour and had somebody spray it on my face every now and again which was really refreshing and did make me feel better! A product I can’t live without for sure!
I then will reach for my current favourite moisturiser, the Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream. Now this one is a little on the pricier side, but I honestly believe it’s worth every cent. It is a really lightweight and gorgeous moisturiser, yet it’s also super hydrating which is exactly what my tired skin needs every day! The cream absorbs quickly, and leaves my skin feeling absolutely lovely and soft. I never have any issues with sensitivity either like I’ve had with other moisturisers in the past, so I’ll be hanging onto this little gem for a long time!
That’s all for today’s post but stay tuned for my night time skincare favourites which will be posted soon after this one! Have you tried any of the products mentioned above? Let me know in the comment section below!
